Horley Infant School has developed excellent links with the local community, businesses and the wider world, for the benefit of the school and the children themselves. We have enjoyed sponsorship, consultation and volunteers from a wide range of businesses, including: Andrew Lyon, Barclaycard, British Airport Authority, Burstow Nursery, Cadbury Schweppes, Collingwood and Batchelor, Cowdray Park, Dave Dove, Esure, Hilton Hotels, HiQ Tyres, James Dean, KPMG, Langshott Manor Hotel, Lion Security, Lloyds Bank, Loseley Park, Mitchells’, Pfizer, Planet Sweet, Sainsbury, South East Water Authority, Stanhill Court Hotel, Sweetpea Florists, Tesco, Twinnings, Virgin Atlantic, Waitrose, White and Sons.
Horley Infant School has always recognised the significance that the International Dimension has on our pupils. It has gradually evolved to become a fundamental and integral part of our school ethos which enhances pupil understanding and empathy for other cultures and traditions. Bringing the world into our classrooms has created a new and exciting perspective to our children. We feel fortunate to have found such a rich and varied knowledge that can enrich our pupils to become worthwhile citizens of the future.
Our children have enjoyed visits from the Police, Fire Services and local Theatre groups; have been invited to local Care Homes to sing to the residents; have delivered Harvest parcels to local residents and The Horley Foodbank; have joined forces with The Round Table and entered a float in the annual Horley Carnival; and enjoy our annual Sports Day down at The Horley Cricket Club.
We were recognised through the British Council and were awarded the International School Award. Our links with other countries; Spain, Germany and especially a school in Lesotho have added a different dimension to our children’s learning and awareness of our world.
