Welcome to The Friends of Horley Infant School
Horley Infant School is very fortunate to be well supported by The Friends, a committee of parents and staff who organise a variety of events to raise money for the school. Last year The Friends raised an amazing amount of money, just over £10,000.
Events this year have ranged from a car boot sale, wine tasting evening, Christmas shopping evening, Christmas fair, Easter egg hunt, the family barbecue, movie morning and summer fair. In addition, The Friends organise monthly cake and second hand uniform sales, half termly coffee mornings and termly discos. However any new ideas are most welcomed.
Over the years, The Friends have raised money to buy laptops, over 700 reading books, playhouses, playground toys and contributed to the redevelopment costs of an additional classroom and hall extension. More recently The Friends have bought CD players for each classroom and items for the outside classroom. The Friends do not only raise money for school resources but also for school events such as paying for a theatre visit at Christmas, a storyteller who worked with children to inspire their ideas for writing, a space workshop, a pirate day and a reptile man to inspire learning!
There are several ways in which you can help The Friends which in turn will help your child:
The members of The Friends work on a voluntary basis and hold down jobs too, so we hope that whilst your child is at this school you might be able to come to the meetings, join the committee and be part of this highly successful supportive committee.
Many hands make light work and believe me there is always work to be done!
