I was interested in becoming a governor so I could understand more about how the school runs and support the school in moving forward. I am on the Finance, Achievement and Standards committees.
My area of responsibility is the behaviour and welfare of all pupils which involves writing an action plan which is reported to the Resources committee, through my leadership the school gained the Silver Level of the Anti- Bullying Award.
I studied to be a teacher at Brighton University, specialising in numeracy and have been teaching since 2003. I originally taught at another infant school in Horley before moving to Spain in 2007 with my family, which I loved, especially the weather, but missed teaching so I returned to the UK in January 2010. I was then lucky enough to begin teaching in Year 2 at Horley Infants in April 2010.
I have a 20 year old who attended Horley schools and has just completed his A-Levels at Reigate College, which has enabled me to experience Horley schools as a parent.
As a member of the teaching staff, I welcome anyone who would like to talk about the role of school governors as my door is always open.
