In order to extend children’s learning opportunities and to consolidate the home-school link we provide a range of activities on our Learning Platform. This can be accessed through the link on the school website.
Parents of Reception children are introduced to the Learning Platform during the first parent meeting during the summer term prior to their starting school. As part of our Safeguarding Policy, safe use of the internet is explained and clearly expressed. When parents and children have agreed to the e-safety rules, confidential usernames and passwords are distributed. These accompany the child throughout their time at Horley Infant School.
The content of the Learning Platform is designed and controlled by teaching staff. As a result it promotes learning opportunities to extend activities already covered within the school curriculum. The Learning Platform consists of a range of year group ‘pages’ as well as Eco-Committee and School Council ‘rooms’. These not only provide activities to extend learning but also enable children to contribute ideas to their class or committee forum.
